Join Southern Adelaide Local Health Network as a Safety and Quality Nurse Consultant at Flinders Medical Centre, where you will lead quality improvement initiatives and safety programs that directly impact patient outcomes. About the role: 

Reporting to the Co-Director, this role is responsible for managing the day-to-day quality, safety and risk portfolio for the Division of Medicine, Cardiac and Critical Care, streams 1 to 3, in association with the Advanced Nursing Directors, Co-Director, ED and ICU Safety & Quality Managers.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Provide corporate support to the Executive team of the Division of Medicine Cardiac and Critical Care and specifically in the portfolio of Quality, Safety and Risk. Works collaboratively with other quality and Nurse Unit Managers within the Division,
  • Use available information systems: to inform decision making, to implement and co-ordinate processes for quality improvement, to monitor and analyse incidents and accidents, to ensure quality and safety is not compromised, to evaluate outcomes and convey information to staff,
  • Contribute to the development of, implementation of, and monitoring of corporate policies and processes and lead in their area of expertise
  • Hold a contemporary professional practice portfolio containing evidence of postgraduate qualifications, learning and practice experience that underpin a demonstrable application of knowledge and skills in Safety and Quality commensurate with the level and type of practice expected of the role,
  • Change local processes and practices in accordance with emerging management needs, evaluation results and imminent systems problems

About you:

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate,
  •  Effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation,
  • Demonstrated ability in the facilitation of change management,
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet set timelines,
  • Ability to be creative, innovative and flexible when approaching issues within the healthcare setting,
  • Demonstrated ability in the facilitation of change management,
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a workplace environment that develops staff potential. 
  • Proven experience in basic computing skills, including email and word processing,
  • Registered Nurse and or Midwife with at least three (3) years post registration experience or currently classified as a Clinical Nurse,
  • Demonstrated competence in the relevant area of nursing and or midwifery practice in accordance with the appropriate standards of practice,
  • Demonstrated experience in management and leadership roles
