Join our Mental Health Rehabilitation Service Team

The Registered Nurse, Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit, works within the multidisciplinary team to deliver high quality care in a holistic, consumer focused and respectful manner. The Registered Nurse uses their clinical knowledge and experience to assist in the creation, implementation and evaluation of individualised rehabilitation plans. They consolidate knowledge and skills and develop in capability through continuous professional development and experience. An employee at this level accepts accountability for his or her own standards of nursing/midwifery care and for activities delegated to others.

About the role: 

Duties for the role will include:

  • Provide compassionate relationship centred nursing care and/or individual case management to consumers that involves carers and building knowledge of the consumer and carer as individuals and as a network of relationships which provide human connection.
  • Assess individual patient/client needs, plan, implement and/or coordinate appropriate service delivery from a range of accepted options including other disciplines or agencies.
  • Contribute to procedures for effectively managing physical and psychological deterioration.
  • Provide, with increasing capacity over time, support and guidance to newer or less experienced staff, Enrolled Nurses, student nurses and rehabilitation support workers.
  • Provide ward/team leader/coordination as required on a shift by shift basis. (A team leader is a RN assigned responsibility for supporting staff and coordinating patient/client care).

  • Demonstrated competence in mental health nursing practice in accordance with the relevant standards
  • Demonstrated commitment to high quality, compassionate, recovery focused care to consumers of the Mental Health Rehabilitation Services.
  • Effective communication skills including, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to be, creative, innovative and flexible when approaching issues within a healthcare setting.
