About the role

The Nurse Consultant leads clinical practice through training, mentoring, and program coordination. The Nurse Consultant applies expert knowledge, evidence-based decision making, and independent clinical judgment to deliver high-quality care and improve client outcomes through leadership and innovation.

Key duties of the role

  • Apply nursing expertise to assess clients, select and implement different therapeutic interventions and support programs, and evaluate client progress.
  • Contribute expert nursing assessment and advice to teams to achieve integrated care.
  • Respond to requests for information in relation to children and families in a timely, accurate and professional way.
  • Role model a positive approach and commitment to person and family centred care.
  • Ensure mechanisms are in place to support ongoing education where work and learning are integrated.

Skills and Experience

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate; OR
  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse and Midwife by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
  • Registered Nurse and or Midwife with at least 3 years post registration experience.
  • Demonstrated contemporary experience in providing assessment and care to families and children with complex issues including domestic violence, mental health, substance abuse, child abuse, and co-morbidities.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire others to work together as team to achieve objectives.
