Role Details:

Join the Governance Advisory Services Branch as a Senior Assurance Consultant, where you’ll play a pivotal role in strengthening organisational governance, risk management, and internal controls. Reporting to the Team Leader of Assurance Services, this role offers the opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio, delivering high-quality internal audit and advisory services that support informed decision-making and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Supporting the development of a risk-based DHW Internal Audit Plan to ensure strategic alignment and focus on key organisational priorities.
  • Planning, leading, and delivering internal audit engagements in line with the approved DHW Internal Audit Plan, from scoping through to reporting.
  • Managing and delivering special reviews, projects, and investigations as required.
  • Contributing to the planning and delivery of Internal Audit team programs, including coordinating external provider engagements where needed.
  • Providing trusted, professional advice to help manage risk, control frameworks, processes, and systems to enhance organisational performance.

To be Successful:

  • You will hold a relevant degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related discipline, complemented by strong communication skills and the ability to build trust and influence stakeholders.
  • You will bring well-developed analytical capabilities, enabling you to navigate complex issues and deliver practical, risk-based solutions. Your experience in internal audits, reviews or investigations will be supported by a sound understanding of audit standards, governance, and risk management frameworks.
  • You will demonstrate a high level of integrity, professionalism, and adaptability, alongside the ability to produce clear, concise reports and provide practical advice to inform decision-making. A commitment to continuous learning and staying current with contemporary audit practices.

About Us:

The Assurance Services Team is responsible for the provision of assurance services that assist DHW in achieving its strategic objectives. Assurance Services are an independent, objective audit and consulting activity designed to add value and improve DHW operations. The Assurance Team collaborates with the Governance Risk & Compliance Team to assist DHW to achieve its strategic objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, controls, and governance processes. This includes identifying whether:

  • Risks are being mitigated,
  • Controls and processes are efficient and effective, and
  • Policies, procedures, and any other relevant obligations are adhered to. 

Assurance Services can also identify improvement opportunities that can be applied to business practices. The Assurance Services Team also performs management requests and investigations as requested from time to time by Executive.

Criminal History Screening Requirement

  • A ‘National Police Certificate’ NPC (also known as a ‘Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check’ NCCHC) for employment involving no contact with vulnerable groups is required for this position (general employment).

Immunisation Risk for this position is Category C (minimal patient contact).

SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.

Special Conditions

  • A Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business Studies, Economics, or other related disciplines is required for this position.
