Clinical Nurse Role in Mental Health & Addiction Care

Join SA Health's Drug and Alcohol Services team as a Clinical Nurse, where you'll provide specialised care to clients overcoming substance use challenges in our outpatient setting. This part-time contract position offers the opportunity to work alongside a dedicated multidisciplinary team, delivering evidence-based treatment that transforms lives across Adelaide's eastern suburbs. About the role: 

Reporting to the Regional Manager, this role is responsible for providing comprehensive clinical assessments, develop individualised care plans, and deliver specialised nursing support to clients navigating substance use disorders in our outpatient services

Duties for the role will include:

  • Provide proficient, person centred, clinical nursing/midwifery care and/or individual case management to patients/clients in a defined clinical area,
  • Monitoring patient/client care plans to ensure appropriate care outcomes are achieved on a regular basis,
  • Assists and supports the Nurse/Midwife Unit Manager or equivalent in management, clinical, and education activities,
  • Act to resolve local and/or immediate nursing/midwifery care or service delivery problems
  • Participate in clinical teaching, overseeing learning experience, and goal setting for students, new staff and staff with less experience

About you:

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate,
  •  Effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills,
  • Ability to work autonomously and effectively within a multidisciplinary team,
  • Ability to prioritise workload, meet set timelines and manage competing service requirements,
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a workplace environment that develops staff potential,
  • Proven ability for flexibility, innovation and creativity within the whole of service setting,
  • Demonstrated competence in alcohol and other drug nursing and working within a multidisciplinary service,
  • Experience in the supervision of students, and less experienced registered nurses 
  • Experience in the provision of education to nurses and other health professionals on complex alcohol and drug problems
