About the role: 

Reporting to the Clinical Lead Physiotherapist, this role is responsible for delivering high quality evidence-based physiotherapy services across the Women’s & Children’s Division. The allocated areas may be one of or combination of units across the Women’s & Children’s division including Neonatal, Paediatric and/or Women’s Health and encompass both inpatient and outpatient services.    

Duties for the role will include:

  • Apply current evidence-based physiotherapy knowledge and skills to provide individualised or group-based care, including complex care, to referred women, babies and children. Care will involve comprehensive physiotherapy assessment and development of management and therapy plans and ultimately discharge planning. 
  • Providing physiotherapy advice and expertise to educational programs within the division and more broadly SALHN when requested,
  • Supporting and supervising AHP1/AHA staff and students allocated to the work area to ensure high quality, safe and timely service delivery,
  • Assisting in the performance development of AHP1 and AHA staff in accordance with stream, divisional & professional guidelines,
  • Collaborating with the nominated Clinical Lead Physiotherapist to identify opportunities for further developing the role of Physiotherapy within the Women’s & Children’s Division,
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and review of clinical policies, procedures, and guidelines relevant to care of women and children as directed by Clinical Lead and AH Manager 

About you:

  • Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia,
  • Honed physiotherapy skills in the clinical assessment and management of Women, Babies & Children,
  • Ability to effectively prioritise workloads, problem solve and meet deadlines,
  • Well-developed and effective written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to relate to people of various ages, cultures and backgrounds,
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team,
  • Extensive and broad clinical experience as a physiotherapist within an acute teaching hospital setting,
  • Experience in the training and supervision of physiotherapists and student,
  • Experience in effective development, implementation, and evaluation of physiotherapy services
