Registry Data Collector - Make Your Mark in Medical Research

Join SA Health as a Clinical Data Collector and play a crucial role in advancing medical research through accurate data collection and management at Flinders Medical Centre. This part-time contract position until July 2027 offers you the opportunity to work with clinical teams, ensuring data quality that directly supports patient care improvements across South Australia. Your attention to detail and commitment to excellence will contribute to meaningful healthcare research within Australia's largest health network.

About the role: 

Reporting to the Clinical Data Coordinator, this role is responsible for gathering and maintaining accurate clinical information from medical records and patient files to support essential healthcare research and registry programs.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Taking guidance from the Clinical Data Coordinator, locate and correctly enter clinical data into a customised database,
  • Participation in management team meetings to agree on deliverables and timelines,
  • Ensure data is entered accurately and all available avenues used to identify required data, following guidelines in the appropriate data dictionary,
  • Ensure patient questionnaires are sent and recorded in a timely manner,
  • Log and report system errors when they are observed,
  • Follow and contribute to standard operating procedures associated with the SA-PCCOC research project,
  • Extract data from pathology reports, encounter records, EMR, biochemistry and imaging reports etc across public and private settings to assess and report on the patient journey

About you:

  • An appropriate qualification in IT, Health, or administration,
  • Proven understanding of confidentiality, handling official information, research, ethics and governance processes,
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and foster good working relationships internally and externally with staff at all levels including researchers and clinicians,
  • Demonstrated organisational and administrative skills with the ability to plan, co-ordinate, document and carry out tasks through to completion,
  • Proven experience in operating autonomously, being self-motivated and responsive to obvious needs,
  • Demonstrated ability to be proactive in initiating and implementing new systems and processes,
  • Experience in the Australian healthcare or IT industries,
  • Proven experience using computers in a clinical or research setting, especially databases
