About the role

The Nurse Consultant is responsible for providing advanced clinical nursing leadership within CaFHS to support improved health and wellbeing outcomes for children and families. The role involves mentoring staff, coordinating and evaluating programs, and ensuring safe, evidence-based, and high-quality care across services.

Key duties of the role

  • Provide expert clinical nursing care using evidence-based assessment, decision-making, and interventions to support safe, person- and family-centred care and improved outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development of, implementation of, and monitoring of corporate policies and processes and lead in their area of expertise
  • Contribute clinical expertise to learning environments, which may include individual/team capability development and/or clinical teaching
  • Apply clinical research and evidence-based practice to monitor, evaluate, and improve service delivery, clinical practice, and client outcomes.
  • Provide leadership and direction, acts a role model, mentor, consultant and resource person.

Skills and Experience

  • Registered Nurse and/or Midwife with AHPRA and eligibility to hold a current practising certificate.
  • Minimum 3 years post-registration experience in nursing and/or midwifery practice.
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical leadership, team coordination, and supervision of students, ENs, and junior clinicians.
  • Experience in providing care to children and families with complex needs, including mental health, DV, substance use, and trauma.
