About the role

In this role, you'll oversee bed capacity, patient flow, and access to emergency care. You'll coordinate admissions and discharges, allocates resources, and work closely with Nurse/Midwife Unit Managers, Nursing Directors and the executive on-call to deliver high-quality patient care and workforce outcomes.

Key duties of the role

  • Integrate corporate and local service coordination to achieve continuity of patient services.
  • Manage and oversee staff allocation, operational management of patient flow and access, bed allocation, staffing skills mix, and other events in consultation with the Executive and Executive on-call after hours.
  • Change local processes and practices in accordance with emerging service needs and care evaluation results.
  • Lead and coordinate the development and evaluation of clinical protocols, standards, policies and procedures.

Skills and Experience

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse/Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
  • Registered Nurse/Midwife with at least 5 years post registration experience.
  • Experience as a leader or manager at a RN/M3 level or above in the health care industry.
  • Experience in liaison with large numbers of staff from various multidisciplinary backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to participate in and contribute to key decision making processes at a senior level.
