Acute/Mood Team | Southern Adelaide | Mental Health Role

The Clinical Nurse undertakes clinical care coordination as part of the multi-disciplinary team within the Specialist Community Mental Health Service. The Clinical Nurse is responsible for the delivery of a range of clinical activities, including mental health and psychosocial assessments, risk assessments, treatment and care planning, therapeutic interventions, advocacy and liaison with other community service providers. About the role: 

Reporting to the Team Manager, some of your duties for the role will include:

  • Participate in clinical teaching, overseeing learning experience, and goal setting for students, new staff and staff with less experience
  • Act as a resource person within an area based on knowledge, experience and skills
  • Provide direct person centred nursing/midwifery care and/or individual case management to patients/clients on a shift by shift basis in a defined clinical area with increasing autonomy over time
  • Required to contribute to a wider or external team working on complex or organisation wide projects such as clinical protocols, guidelines and/or process mapping
  • Provide health promotion and education, to patients/clients or groups and carers to improve the health outcomes of individual

About you:

  • Must be enrolled in an approved mental health course or hold a qualification in mental health practice
  • Effective communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Registered Nurse/Midwife with at least 3 years, full time equivalent, post registration experience (Clinical Nurse)
  • Experience in the leadership and direction of student nurses, enrolled nurses and less experienced registered nurses
