Join SA Health as a Freedom of Information Coordinator in our Southern Adelaide Local Health Network, based at the Regional Office in Adelaide's southern metro area. This full-time, ongoing position offers the chance to play an essential role in ensuring transparency and accountability across one of South Australia's largest health networks.

About the role: 

Reporting to the Manager this role is responsible for delivering a confidential FOI service, acting as a key point for FOI enquiries, and providing expert advice to staff and members of the public regarding FOI applications and the release of information to authorised parties. The coordinator ensures information management systems align with relevant Information Privacy Principles and legislative obligations. The role also oversees the processing of legal orders and liaises with public authorities, healthcare and business professionals, patients, and their relatives, guardians, or authorised agents in accordance with FOI legislation.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Taking a lead role in the development and review of FOI procedures and instructions and the provision of high-level advice.
  •  Resolving interpersonal differences constructively and professionally to ensure no adverse consequences to the quality of internal and external client service or the working relationship.
  • Prepare/draft documentation including letters, memorandums, reports, and other documents, including drafting determinations on behalf of the FOI Manager. 
  • Accountable for ensuring provision of timely information is provided to the SA Ombudsman in relation to any external reviews.  
  • Providing expert advice and promoting sound professional and personal practices and excellence in customer service. 

About you:

  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills to motivate and influence others to work together as a team to achieve objectives and to anticipate change and influence others in responding to change.
  •  sound ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written to consumers, clinicians, senior staff and external stakeholders.
  •  Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritise and organise work to achieve goals and meet deadlines, including dealing with competing demands and managing multiple matters and tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • High level experience in processing FOI applications under the FOI Act, and/or other legal requests for information.
