    We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Senior Occupational Therapist to join our Community Geriatrics Team!

    The Senior Occupational Therapist is a senior professional clinician and member of the Community Geriatrics team, which provides care to older people with complex medical, functional and/or psychosocial needs in their own home using a case management model of care. 

    About the role: 

    Reporting to the Advanced Nurse Unit Manager GEM@Home & Community Geriatrics, and the Director Occupational Therapy duties for the role will include:

    • Assessment, restorative interventions and sustainable care planning in collaboration with the older person, their family, carer and existing community services involved in their care
    • A focus on assisting individual consumers to optimise management of their medical condition and functional impacts as well as establishing community based support networks and/or suitable supported accommodation
    • Participating in interdisciplinary clinical and planning activities to enhance the overall service provided to clients,
    • Contributing to the planning and policy development for GEM@Home and Occupational Therapy services.

    About you:

    • A degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia,
    • Demonstrated ability to work with autonomously with high levels of competence
    • Demonstrated ability to undertake assessment and intervention with complex cases, particularly those with cognitive impairment or diagnosis of dementia,
    • Demonstrated experience in clinical management and leadership within a discrete unit, including program evaluation and service development.
    • Demonstrated ability to ensure achievement of performance targets in relation to activity, quality and development in line with organisational goals.
