Overview:

Reporting to the Director, Epidemiology and Research, Preventive Health SA, the Manager, Translational Research is responsible for:

  • Implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the agency-wide Strategic Research Agenda, including identifying areas of need, facilitating partnerships within the agency and across a range of external stakeholders, that result in the generation of evidence to support preventive health action.
  • Leading coordination of externally commissioned research projects and partnerships, including a health economics program of research, 
  • Leading coordination of Preventive Health SA’s research governance process, including review of incoming requests for research support, and leadership on the agency’s Data and Research Committee.
  • Development of translational evidence summaries, synthesising current data and evidence to support shared understanding across prevention efforts.

Criminal History Screening Requirement

  • A ‘National Police Certificate’ NPC (also known as a ‘Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check’ NCCHC) for employment involving no contact with vulnerable groups is required for this position (general employment)

Immunisation Risk for this position is Category C (minimal patient contact) 

SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.

 

Special Conditions

  • Post graduate qualifications in public health, health policy, epidemiology, health promotion, or a related discipline,
  • Extensive experience in translational research including data extraction, analysis and reporting, investigating and resolving complex issues and applying research and data in a health policy setting.
