About the role

The Associate Nurse Unit Manager supports the Nurse Unit Manager or Regional Team Manager to ensure consistent, person-centred care through clinical leadership and coordination. The Associate Nurse Unit Manager assists with practice changes, service management tasks, and oversees care delivery, monitors care plans, and promotes effective team performance and quality outcomes.

Key duties of the role

  • Provide proficient, person centred, clinical nursing care to clients.
  • Monitor client care plans to ensure appropriate care outcomes are achieved.
  • Oversee the provision of nursing care within a team.
  • Assist and support the Regional Team Manager or equivalent in management, clinical, and education activities.
  • Participate in clinical teaching, overseeing learning experience, and goal setting for students, new staff and staff with less experience.

Skills and Experience

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate; OR
  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse and Midwife by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
  • Registered Nurse with at least 3 years post registration experience or currently classified as a Clinical Nurse.
  • Experience in the supervision of student nurses, enrolled nurses and less experienced registered nurses.
  • Effective communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
