About the Role

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapists to join our dynamic multidisciplinary team. As an Occupational Therapist, you will bring a proficient level of professional knowledge and expertise, while actively contributing to departmental education, quality improvement, and service planning initiatives. You may also provide professional and clinical supervision to AHP1 Occupational Therapists, Allied Health Assistants and students. Position 1 : Karra Ward - Stroke rehabilitation (1FTE)  

The Karra Rehabilitation unit focuses on providing rehabilitation services for patients with stroke and other neurological conditions. Services are provided by a multidisciplinary team in the purpose-built ward for rehabilitation with access to gyms and therapy rooms. 

The occupational therapists provide assessment, treatment plans, individual and group interventions to maximise our patient's independence. Working within a multidisciplinary team, OT provides an essential service in support the patients journey including discharge. Assessment and intervention are in line with the latest evidence-based practice ensuring a high quality of service for all patients and a rewarding work environment for our team. 

 Position 2 : General Medical Team - Acute (1FTE) 

Occupational Therapy in General Medicine team focuses on maximising patient independence, safety and function while navigating complex, fast paced acute care environments. You will conduct comprehensive functional, and cognitive assessments to facilitate safe discharge planning including identifying support needs, equipment prescription, education and early intervention for varied diagnostic caseload. Working closely with the multidisciplinary team, CALHN OT strives to ensure a holistic focus on providing excellence in patient care. 

About You

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Occupational Therapist who brings both clinical expertise and a collaborative, patient-centred approach to care.

  • Professional Qualifications & Experience: Registered with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia with a minimum of three years’ experience delivering high-quality OT interventions across acute, sub-acute, rehabilitation, community, or ambulatory settings, including management of complex patient presentations.

  • Clinical Expertise & Judgement: Demonstrates strong clinical reasoning, evidence-based practice, and the ability to manage complex clinical situations with professionalism, autonomy, and sound decision-making.

  • Collaboration & Leadership: Skilled in fostering teamwork, providing clinical supervision, mentoring students and Allied Health Assistants, and contributing to service improvement initiatives.

  • Communication & Organisational Skills: Effective communicator with patients, carers, and multidisciplinary teams; highly organised, adaptable, and committed to continuous professional development, ethical practice, and quality patient care.
