Clinical Work Health Safety Leader - Associate Nurse Unit Manager

Lead clinical work health and safety initiatives across Southern Adelaide Local Health Network in this part-time Associate Nurse Unit Manager role. About the role: 

Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, this role is responsible for leading clinical work health and safety initiatives across Southern Adelaide Local Health Network, developing policies, conducting risk assessments, and driving safety culture improvements to protect both patients and healthcare staff.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Responsible for  Implementing , coordinating and providing a range of interventions and strategies to support a safe environment in the areas of
    • Immunisation for Health Care Workers
    • Infectious Disease exposure prevention and management
    • Prevention and management of  Blood and Body Fluid Exposures
    • Dermatitis and Latex allergy
    • Health Surveillance.
  • Participation in outbreak investigations and the coordination of intervention strategies;
  • Involvement in purchasing and/or trials of new products or medical equipment;
  • Providing health education and counselling to improve the health outcomes of individual patients/clients or groups;
  • Supporting existing local quality improvement systems such as incident management and  risk register
  • Provide proficient, person centred, clinical nursing/midwifery care and/or individual case management to patients/clients in a defined clinical area,
  • Monitoring patient/client care plans to ensure appropriate care outcomes are achieved on a daily basis,
  • Oversee the provision of nursing/midwifery care within a team/unit,
  • Assists and supports the Nurse/Midwife Unit Manager or equivalent in management, clinical, and education activities,
  • Participate in clinical teaching, overseeing learning experience, and goal setting for students, new staff and staff with less experience

About you:

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse/Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate,
  • Effective communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills,
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively facilitate the change process,
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively within a multidisciplinary team and use personal skills which foster trust, respect and cooperation,
  • Registered Nurse/Midwife with at least 3 years post registration experience or currently classified as an Associate Clinical Services Coordinator /Midwife,
  • Demonstrated competence in the area of infection prevention and control in accordance with the appropriate professional standards of practice
