About the role

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the Paediatric Medicine team as a Clinical Toxinology & Toxicology Fellow (RAH & WCHN) where you will be responsible for:

  • Undertaking training in 2 related disciplines (toxinology & toxicology) across 2 main campuses (RAH & WCH), including supervised on call in both disciplines.
  • Development of partnerships both internal and external to support quality patient needs and outcomes.
  • Assisting in the development of an integrated clinical Toxinology and Toxicology service in cooperation with relevant departments and staff across the metropolitan hospital system.
  • The provision of a high standard of clinical practice through adherence to policies, protocols, and procedures.

Key duties of the role

  • Deliver evidence-based care, adhere to policies and procedures, and monitor clinical standards to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Promote a supportive, safe work environment, encouraging learning, innovation, and effective conflict resolution.
  • Facilitate undergraduate and postgraduate education in toxinology & toxicology, providing learning opportunities and performance assessments for medical staff.
  • Lead and participate in research initiatives and multi-centre trials to advance the field of toxinology and toxicology.
  • Continuously review practices, develop guidelines, assess clinical risks, and implement corrective actions to improve service delivery.

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner.
  • Appropriate qualifications for registration as a junior specialist in a relevant medical speciality (emergency medicine, physician, critical care medicine) or an advanced trainee in a relevant accredited speciality training program or such other relevant qualification as may be considered, from time to time.
  • Demonstrated ability and intention to train towards achieving clinical excellence in the specialities of toxinology and toxicology.
  • Experience in and commitment to working within a multidisciplinary team with an interdisciplinary approach to services.
