Work within the community setting to support and embed a stronger and more sustainable approach to support of Aboriginal people in the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network. 

About the role: 

Reporting to the Clinical Services Manager, this position involves general clinical duties including pathology collection, wound care, health assessments, and chronic disease management. These staff are frontline clinicians who provide culturally safe care to the community and are also expected to undertake the following responsibilities: 

  • Commitment to delivering high quality and safe care consistent with the SALHN Integrated Governance Framework and Consumer Engagement Framework and Plan.
  • Provide clinical care and participate in medication management.
  • Planning, implementing and reviewing appropriate interventions such as referrals, screening, and advocacy.
  • Participating in case conferences and in share care planning for clients.
  • Provide training and support training programs that enable Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal heath workforce further develop competency in health prevention, screening and assessment that is culturally appropriate
  • Assist with developing, implementing, and monitoring clinical escalation pathways.
  • Strengthen local capacity through a developing and supporting a network of champions within our health services for culturally appropriate care.

About you:

  • Certificate IV in Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care (Practice) or equivalent
  • Hold registration with the ATSIHPBA
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a culturally sensitive manner with Aboriginal individuals, families and communities
  • Demonstrated ability to work under limited directions both independently and part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience in a broad range of health promotion and screening programs
  • Experience in providing direct clinical care to clients such as screening, pathology collection, well health checks and general clinical duties that are required in a primary health care setting.
