Join our Surgery And Peri-Operative Medicine (SAPOM) Team Specializing in Orthopaedics Clinics

We are seeking an experienced Associate Nurse Unit Manager, specialising in Orthopaedics Clinics. You will support clinical operations while developing your leadership capabilities in a supportive environment that values professional development and innovation.

About the role: 

Assist the Nurse Unit Manager or equivalent in undertaking unit management responsibilities.
Duties for the role will include:

  • Ensure that service provision and the activities of the Divisional Unit are person and family centred and professionally and effectively conducted by contributing to the development of an integrated team approach and culture which is highly responsive to the needs of our consumers.
  • Lead, develop and foster a positive work culture which is based on SA Public Sector and SALHN values and promotes patient / client focussed service, learning and development, safety and welfare of employees, acknowledges differences, and encourages creativity and innovation.
  • Oversee the provision of nursing/midwifery care within a team/unit.
  • Assist the Nurse Unit Manager and Nurse Educators to maintain a learning culture by being a resource person, encouraging reflection and professional development, and assisting others to maintain portfolios/records of learning.

About you:

  • Demonstrated clinical competence in scrub/scout perioperative nursing practice, with specialties in Orthopaedics, in accordance with the relevant standards.
  • Experience in the leadership and direction of student nurses, enrolled nurses and less experienced registered nurses.
  • Ability to be creative, innovative and flexible when approaching issues within the healthcare setting.
  • Effective communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
