Join our Rehabilitation, Aged Care and Palliative Care (DivRAP) Team as a Dietetic Allied Health Assistant!

Provide assistance and support to the Dietetic & Nutrition Department in the delivery of allied health services to patients/clients of SALHN, under the supervision of an allied health professional. 

About the role: 

Duties pertaining to an AHA2 are required to be clearly and specifically directed by the supervising AHP, and operation against clearly demarcated work instructions is required.
Duties may include, but not necessarily be limited to:

  • Translating meal plans prepared by dietitians into patients’ food requirements, and using the Computerised Foodservice system to order meals on a daily basis.
  • Accurately enter dietitian prepared meal plans for special diets into the computerised foodservice program and make changes as directed by clinicians in accordance with departmental procedures.
  • Using patient record management systems to check patient information, record new admissions, discharges and ward transfers.
  • Taking 24hr food records from patients identified at nutritional risk and other patients as directed by the dietitian.
  • Administrative tasks directly related to a patient intervention or episode of care (as distinct from administration specific roles).

About you:

  • Previous relevant experience with patient care or experience working with people of varying degrees of disability and/or backgrounds.
  • Must be eligible for or be willing to undertake a Certificate 3 in Allied Health Assistance or equivalent.
  • Sound communication and interpersonal skills – able to demonstrate the ability to work with people from a variety of cultural and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and to empathise with and motivate people.
  • Capacity to work flexibly across a range of therapeutic and program related activities.
  • Ability to organise time to complete daily tasks, and work within their limits and to recognise when situations are unsafe for patients.
