This full‑time Data Governance Officer role at the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN) is responsible for developing and maintaining data governance policies, ensuring robust data management standards, and monitoring compliance with SALHN’s Data Governance Framework.

The position will work closely with clinical, digital and corporate teams to provide expert guidance on data management practices across the network, which comprises three southern metropolitan public hospitals and a range of statewide services. The role suits a professional with qualifications in information management, health informatics, or a related field, demonstrated experience in data governance, and a sound understanding of privacy and information‑management legislation.

About the role: 

  • Develop, implement, and manage the SALHN Data Governance Framework and related quality assurance and risk management programs for activity-based data that defines who has the authority and control over data assets and how those data assets may be used.
  • Assist team with advice in relation to the impact of Data Governance on various aspects of data provision.
  • Facilitate and co-ordinate activities relating to improving data quality or governance processes.

About you:

  • Ability to identify and analyse problems of a complex nature and formulate and document practical solutions with recommendations.
  • Experience in determining and implementing appropriate goals, strategic directions and leading and managing associated work plans and programs within constrained timeframes, competing priorities and the framework of an organisation’s corporate objectives.
  • Experience in successfully communicating, negotiating and working collaboratively with stakeholders from a variety of professional and organisational backgrounds including the community, service providers and other relevant stakeholders to achieve outcomes in a complex and changing environment.
