As per the SMOEA 2025, the total term of employment with SA Health will be 3 years.  Rotations following the initial 12-month allocation Advanced Trainee Paediatric Sleep Medicine will be determined in line with your training and SA Health's requirements.  This may include transfer to other SA Health locations to perform work appropriate to classification, skills and capabilities.

About the role

The Advanced Trainee in Paediatric Sleep Medicine contributes to the delivery of inpatient and outpatient sleep services across WCHN under appropriate supervision. The role supports clinical care, professional development, teaching and research within the Department of Sleep Medicine, while progressing advanced training requirements.

Key duties of the role

• Deliver inpatient and outpatient clinical care for paediatric sleep medicine patients under supervision.
• Participate in assessment, investigation and interpretation of sleep-related and respiratory diagnostic studies.
• Contribute to multidisciplinary outpatient and inpatient management, including coordination of ongoing care and follow-up.
• Support teaching and supervision of junior medical staff, students and multidisciplinary colleagues.
• Participate in research, clinical audit, quality improvement and departmental education activities.

Skills and Experience

• Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (BMBS) or equivalent and registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
• Completion of RACP Basic Training and eligibility for Advanced Training toward FRACP.
• Strong clinical skills in paediatric medicine with developing expertise in sleep/respiratory medicine.
• Excellent communication, teamwork and problem-solving abilities in multidisciplinary settings.
• Commitment to teaching, research, patient-centred care and continuous improvement.
