The Administrative Assistant role operates in a dual‑capacity, providing administrative support across both Respiratory Nursing and Dermatology services. Co-ordinate the efficient and effective operation of the services by the provision of high-quality clerical and administrative support to staff and clients.

About the role: 

  • Providing confidential administrative and personal assistant support to Respiratory & Dermatology staff by overseeing the provision of administrative services within the both services.
  • Undertaking keyboard and reception duties, including word processing, publishing, power point, Sunrise and service specific databases. 
  • Acting as a point of reference to patients, relatives, hospital staff, General Practitioners and members of the public to assist in the smooth running of the Departments. 
  • Contributing to the development of an integrated team approach and culture which is highly responsive to the needs of our consumers.
  • Performing administrative research and taking responsibility for minor project work with limited or no supervision and in accordance with set time frames and to a predetermined standard.
  • Providing a proficient communication link for the unit within the hospital and with outside institutions/organisations.
  • Co-ordinating and liaising with internal and external departments to allow smooth transition of new dermatology staff.

About you:

  • Proven experience in the use of computer software packages including Microsoft Office Applications and Sunrise.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively, prioritise work appropriately with limited supervision.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to use initiative, judgment and common sense in performing duties.
  • Possess flexibility, adaptability and versatility of approach to cope with changing work requirements.
  • Proven ability to communicate sensitively, effectively and respectfully with all customers, both face to face and over the telephone.
  • Ability to recognise and deal with confidential matters with tact and discretion.
  • Proven experience in providing general administrative and confidential tasks.
  • Experience in working within multi-disciplinary teams within a health care environment.
