About the role

This role will provide culturally responsive mental health care to Aboriginal children, adolescents, and families. Delivers assessment, advocacy, counselling, and cultural leadership. Collaborates with services, supports staff, and ensures culturally safe practice, accountability, and improved wellbeing outcomes.

Key duties of the role

  • Provides culturally informed engagement, assessment and interventions for Aboriginal children, young people and their families who are experiencing social and emotional health difficulties
  • Provides consultancy regarding professional and other matters
  • Provides supervision, training and education to junior staff
  • Contribute to the Administration of the Team
  • Encourage and foster a positive culture and safe work environment

Skills and Experience

  • Ability to deliver culturally safe, trauma-informed care grounded in Aboriginal knowledge.
  • Experience in engaging Aboriginal children, young people, and families.
  • Experience in mental health assessment and complex interventions.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary and community services.
  • Experience in program delivery, organisation, and reflective practice.
