About the role

The Staff Specialist - will be responsible for managing high-quality inpatient and outpatient cardiology services, ensuring clients' functional levels are restored using evidence-based best practice. You will contribute to education and research within the unit while encouraging teamwork amongst staff to achieve optimal clinical service outcomes.

Key duties of the role

  • Provide a high standard of clinical services to patients using evidence-based practice.
  • Encourage and foster a positive culture and safe work environment.
  • Contribute to advances in knowledge within the specialty while ensuring comprehensive undergraduate and postgraduate training in paediatric cardiology.
  • Leading the unit and participating in quality management, quality assurance and risk management activities and ongoing improvement of services.
  • Contribution to the ongoing review of Credentialing & Scope of Clinical Practice for medical staff.

Skills and Experience

  • MBBS or equivalent and specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), including the ability to work with individuals and families for positive health outcomes and to foster productive working relationships both internally and externally.
  • Clinical experience in paediatric cardiology within a large public hospital setting
  • Demonstrated teaching experience at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
