About the role

The Clinical Nurse Consultant provides specialist mental health assessment, intervention, and care coordination for children, adolescents, perinatal women, and their families. The role delivers expert clinical leadership, supports multidisciplinary care, and contributes to quality improvement and staff development.

Key duties of the role

  • Provide expert mental health assessment, care coordination, and clinical leadership to deliver safe, high-quality care and positive consumer outcomes
  • Contribute to quality improvement, risk management, and clinical governance activities to support safe, effective, and high-quality mental health care.
  • Encourage and foster a positive culture and safe work environment.
  • Maintain a contemporary professional portfolio and apply expert clinical knowledge to support ongoing education, staff development, and improved client care outcomes
  • Contribute to research and evidence-based practice to improve outcomes while providing clinical leadership and driving improvements in mental health care

Skills and Experience

  • Registered Nurse with AHPRA and a current or eligible practising certificate
  • Approved qualification or completed course in mental health practice
  • Minimum three years post-registration nursing experience
  • Demonstrated mental health assessment, risk assessment, and care planning experience with children and young people
  • Proven leadership, communication, and multidisciplinary team collaboration skills
