  • Total Indicative Remuneration Package: $296,708 - $383,234 MDO2 (pro rata) | Managerial Allowance (Small Unit)

An exciting opportunity has become available for you to demonstrate leadership and efficient management capabilities as the acting Head of Unit (HoU) in Mental Health Services – Noarlunga Centre.

As an experienced senior clinician, you will:

  • Be responsible to the Clinical Director for overall clinical leadership and governance of the Unit
  • Be responsible to the Clinical Director for the administration of the Mental Health Act 2009 within the Unit
  • Maintain a clinical load as required
  • Ensure the effective, efficient and safe provision of clinical care, working collaboratively with the Nursing Director and Nurse Unit Manager in the day-to-day operational management of the Unit
  • Be responsible for the recruitment, rostering, professional development, job planning, line management and supervision of medical staff within the Unit, and ensuring that teaching commitments are met
  • Be responsible for ensuring appropriate clinical supervision of medical staff allocated to the Unit
  • Ensure that each consumer's care has a direct line of responsibility to a consultant psychiatrist 
  • Be responsible for clinical decision making with regards to a consumer's care if there are conflicting clinical opinions

About you:

  • Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent. Appropriate Specialist Qualifications and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration (Psychiatry); or another qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award.
  • Demonstrated high standard of clinical practice in Psychiatry.
  • Demonstrated professional integrity, leadership and motivational skills.
