Senior Youth Mental Health Clinician - Transform Young Lives 

The Youth Mental Health Stream works to provide high quality, evidence based mental health assessment, treatment, and support with navigating health services for young people aged 16 - 24 years old. The early identification, intervention, and prevention of mental health distress can help prevent the potential long-term impacts of mental illness, maximising the wellbeing and mental fitness of young people within the local community.

About the role: 

Reporting to the Team Manager, some of your duties for the role will include:

  • Providing direct, expert clinical care, and providing individual case management to a defined population of young people
  • Delivering non-discriminatory treatment and support that is sensitive to the social and cultural values of the consumer, the consumer’s family and carers and the community
  • Supporting Intake Seniors with discussion of referral pathways for youth consumers
  • Providing high-quality, effective, evidence-based mental health interventions to consumers with complex mental health disorders to assist in recovery.

About you:

  • A strong understanding of the unique developmental challenges and psychological needs of adolescents and young adults, as well as familiarity with evidence-based assessment and intervention approaches for young people who have high or complex needs
  • Awareness and sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, and social diversity when working with youth and families from varying backgrounds
  • Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development, attend workshops, training, and stay up-to-date with the latest research and practices in youth mental health
  • Effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation.

This is a single vacancy, with two possible appointment classifications. The successful applicants will be appointed in the position appropriate to their skills, qualifications, and experience.

Please note that this position is multi-classed as either an AHP3 or RN3 and classification will be determined by qualifications.
