Overview:

To provide specialist medical and strategic advice on infectious disease prevention, surveillance, and control, and outbreak management, to contribute effectively to teaching/training, research and epidemiology and evaluation; and to advise departmental Executive, Health Chief Executives Council (HCEC), the Minister and government, with a focus on tuberculosis. To represent CDCB and PHD on DHW and State committees and South Australia at national meetings on infectious diseases prevention, surveillance, and control, and outbreak management.

Criminal History Screening Requirement

 

  • A ‘National Police Certificate’ NPC (also known as a ‘Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check’ NCCHC) for employment involving no contact with vulnerable groups is required for this position (general employment)

 

Immunisation Risk for this position is Category A (direct contact with blood or body substances)

SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.

 

Special Conditions

  • Some out of hours work will be required; the incumbent needs to be prepared to work out of hours and extra hours to assist filling a 24/7 roster and to support the management of notifiable diseases.
  • Some intra and interstate travel may be required

 

Educational Minimum Requirements

  • Registered with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration in a relevant field such as respiratory medicine, infectious diseases, general practice or public health medicine.
