About the role

This role provides nursing/midwifery care within the Child and Family Health Service (CaFHS), supporting families and children. The practitioner develops from a novice to a proficient level through ongoing professional development and experience, consolidating clinical knowledge and skills. The role is responsible for maintaining safe, evidence-based care and accountability for personal practice and delegated activities.

Key duties of the role

  • Assess individual client needs and coordinate person-centred care across nursing, allied health, and community agencies, with increasing clinical autonomy as you grow within the role.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities that contribute to client safety, risk minimisation and safe work activities within the practice setting.
  • Provide health promotion and education, to clients or groups to improve the health outcomes of individual.
  • Participate in evaluative research activities within the practice setting
  • Provide, with increasing capacity over time, support and guidance to newer or less experienced staff, including Enrolled Nurses.

Skills and Experience

  • Registered Nurse and/or Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and eligible to hold a current practising certificate.
  • Demonstrated competence and experience in the relevant area of nursing and/or midwifery practice.
  • Proven experience in delivering high quality and safe care consistent with the National Safety and Quality Health Care Service Standards.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, prioritisation and multidisciplinary teamwork skills.
