About the role: 

Take this opportunity to complete an Echocardiography Fellowship at Flinders Medical Centre. Reporting to the Cardiology Network Director and the Director of Echocardiography, this role will be involved in providing clinical services of the highest possible standard to medicine patients of Flinders Medical Centre both in terms of individual performance and by contributing to a multi-disciplinary approach to the delivery of patient care. Duties for the role may include: 

Duties for the role will include:

  • Ensure the provision of high quality professional medical care
  • Provide inpatient ward services including ward rounds, Consultations, procedures, quality assurance activities, discharge planning, coding assessments, undergraduate and postgraduate training
  • Provide Echocardiographic services including:
    • Transthoracic Echocardiography
    • Stress Echocardiography
    • Transoesophageal Echocardiography
  • Assist in the organisation and efficient management of Cardiovascular diseases
  • Supervision and education of advanced trainees, junior medical officers, medical students, sonographers and cardiac technicians
  • Assist and collaborate with research activities within the Cardiology department and other units within the hospital and local health networks
  • Contribute to the development of an integrated team approach and culture which is highly responsive to the needs of our consumers

About you:

  • Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent
  • Registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with General Registration.
  • Experience in all cardiac investigations including ECG reporting, echocardiography reporting, Holter monitor reporting
  • Documented experience in providing echocardiographic services including: Transthoracic echo consistent with CSANZ criteria for Advanced Trainees
  • Proven clinical skills to enable work in general Cardiology and coronary care
  • Ability to work within broadly defined guidelines and exercise a degree of autonomy in the discharge of duties requiring limited direction
  • Demonstrated ability and interest in clinical research

As per the SMOEA 2025, the total term of employment with SA Health will be 3 years. Rotations following the initial 12-month allocation as Advanced Trainee will be determined in line with your training and SA Health’s requirements. This may include transfer to other SA Health locations to perform work appropriate to classification, skills, and capabilities.
