About The Role

The McGrath Cancer Care Nurse (GI/Lung) provides expert nursing leadership and specialised cancer care support for patients and families across the Limestone Coast Local Health Network. Working across hospital and community settings, the role delivers advanced clinical care, coordination, education and support throughout the cancer care journey, while contributing to improved patient outcomes and continuity of care. Reporting within multidisciplinary teams, the position also provides clinical leadership, facilitates referrals and treatment pathways, and supports service improvement initiatives aligned with the McGrath Foundation Model of Cancer Care to ensure safe, compassionate and patient-centred care across the region.


About You

You are a compassionate and experienced cancer care professional with advanced clinical knowledge and a strong commitment to patient-centred care. You bring excellent leadership, communication and multidisciplinary collaboration skills, with the ability to manage complex clinical situations, support consumers and families, and drive service improvement initiatives across diverse healthcare settings.

To succeed in the McGrath Cancer Care Nurse (GI/Lung) role, you will:

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse/Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, holding or eligible to hold a current practising certificate.
  • Minimum 5 years post-registration experience, including recent experience in cancer nursing and the delivery of specialised cancer care services.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess, plan and manage complex cancer care cases, including coordination of treatment pathways and supportive care services.
  • Proven leadership, communication and multidisciplinary collaboration skills, with experience supporting staff development, change management and consumer engagement initiatives.
  • Relevant postgraduate qualifications in Oncology, Palliative Care or Cancer Nursing (or working towards), with strong knowledge of contemporary cancer care standards, legislation and clinical governance principles.
