Strategic Asset Manager | Southern Adelaide Local Health Network

As SALHN's principal infrastructure specialist, you will set the asset strategies and investment priorities that keep Southern Adelaide's health facilities safe, compliant and fit for clinical purpose. You'll work across executives, clinical leaders, government departments and service providers to turn complex infrastructure challenges into practical, evidence-based solutions. This is a rare opportunity to lead at the intersection of healthcare delivery and built environment strategy within one of South Australia's largest local health networks.

About the role: 

Reporting to the Manager, this role is responsible for providing strategic leadership on all facilities across the local health network working in partnership with DH&A, the Across Government Facilities Arrangement (AGMFA) staff and senior Local Health Network (LHN) management.

Duties for the role will include:

  • The Strategic Asset Manager acts as a key integrator across multiple stakeholders, bringing together operational requirements, asset risks, compliance obligations and infrastructure priorities to develop practical and sustainable solutions that support healthcare delivery,
  • The role is responsible for leading the development of asset strategies, infrastructure plans and investment priorities across the Local Health Network, ensuring resources are directed to projects that deliver the greatest benefit in terms of patient care, risk reduction, regulatory compliance and asset performance,
  • A critical function of the role is to oversee the performance of facilities management arrangements under the Across Government Facilities Management Arrangement (AGFMA), ensuring service providers meet contractual obligations, performance standards and organisational expectations,
  • The Strategic Asset Manager drives continuous improvement by identifying process inefficiencies, simplifying governance and operational pathways, removing delivery bottlenecks and improving the effectiveness of asset management and facilities management practices across the organisation,
  • Providing expert consultancy advice and input into the development, implementation and evaluation of major client focused policies and procedures related to facilities management

About you:

  • Success in this role requires strong stakeholder engagement, strategic thinking, healthcare infrastructure expertise and the ability to influence outcomes across a diverse range of internal and external partners while balancing competing priorities and limited resources,
  • Trade qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Fields,
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multi-faceted, complex hospital capital programs, major acquisitions and facility management contracts in, competing views and conflicting requirements by thinking laterally, creatively and strategically and exercising sound judgment in decision-making and problem solving,
  • Demonstrated ability in identifying, developing and implementing unique health-based strategies to address business risks and reviewing and further developing quality practices that enhance operational efficiency and business outcomes,
  • Providing strong leadership to identify, foster, promote change strategies and initiate collaborative change management processes in a challenging environment,
  • Extensive experience in managing complex health contracts to meet performance outcomes in a complex dynamic environment with competing needs and priorities,
  • Critically analysing complex information, problems and situations, and preparing high level recommendations, reports and submissions
