About the Role:
You will work alongside clinicians, service managers, and community members to embed consumer perspectives into health service planning and improvement.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Facilitating consumer and community consultation activities, including focus groups, surveys, and co-design sessions
- Providing advice to NALHN teams on meaningful consumer engagement practice, in line with the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards
- Supporting the development and review of consumer-facing resources to ensure accessibility and plain language across diverse community groups
- Maintaining accurate records of engagement activities and contributing to reporting on consumer feedback outcomes
- Influencing how health services engage with the community
- Deliver meaningful communication and engagement activities that reach diverse audiences
- Work alongside senior leaders, clinicians and community groups
- Leave a tangible legacy through campaigns, events and engagement strategies

About You:
We are looking for someone who has:
- Demonstrated experience in consumer engagement, community development, or a related health or social services field
- Sound understanding of person-centred care and health literacy principles within a public health context
- Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information clearly
- Ability to build trusted relationships with consumers, carers, and multidisciplinary health teams
- Familiarity with SA Health consumer and community engagement frameworks is highly regarded

Our Local Health Network Sites and Services:
NALHN provides a range of hospital (inpatient), outpatient, community and home-based services across multiple sites in Adelaide’s north and north-eastern suburbs, including Aboriginal health, mental health, and GP services.
Lyell McEwin Hospital – the major hospital in northern Adelaide for emergency care, complex and multi-day surgery, medicine, obstetric, paediatrics and outpatient services.
Modbury Hospital – a general hospital with emergency care, elective surgery, medicine, outpatient and sub-acute services, rehabilitation, geriatric and palliative care.
Mental Health Services – adult and older persons mental health services and statewide forensic mental health services, across hospital and community settings.
Watto Purrunna Aboriginal Primary Health Care Services – provides culturally responsive primary healthcare services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in-hospital and across four community sites.
Primary Health Care Services – including GP Plus sites at Elizabeth, Modbury and Gilles Plains.
