About the role

The Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist provide high-quality specialist obstetrics and gynaecology services, contributing to patient care, teaching, research, and quality improvement within a multidisciplinary team. The role includes participation in the after-hours on-call roster and may involve providing services across other SA Health sites as required

Key duties of the role

  • Ensure the provision of a high standard of patient centred clinical practice through adherence to policies, protocols and procedures by all medical staff in the O&G service.
  • Facilitation of continuing education programmes and undergraduate teaching programmes as appropriate.
  • Contribution to advances in knowledge within the specialty is expected, including participation in multicentre research trials where appropriate.
  • Contributing to unit quality management, risk activities, and clinical guideline development, while actively participating in clinical meetings of the Service.

Skills and Experience

  • MBBS or equivalent, with FRANZCOG or within 6 months of Fellowship
  • Specialist registration with AHPRA as an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist
  • Demonstrated experience in all-risk Obstetrics and Gynaecology within a public secondary or tertiary centre
  • Proven ability to teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels within a multidisciplinary environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a commitment to patient-centred, quality care
