About the Role:

The Northern Community Mental Health Service is seeking an APHRA registered Health Nurse to join the Youth Stream. The role will involve working collaboratively within a Multi-Disciplinary Team to support young people within the Northern Suburbs of Adelaide between the ages of 18 to 25 years.

The Mental Health Clinician within the Youth Stream at NAHLN will have passion for supporting young people and to further develop their skills and competencies with this youth cohort. The NAHLN Youth Stream also boasts a NALHN Award winning integration model of care which enhances collaboration with both State and Commonwealth funded mental health services in the Northern region. This collaboration across State and NGO youth mental health services is unique and therefore provides a great opportunity for the incumbent to work in a truly holistic manner which focuses of the needs of young people and supports a "no wrong door' policy to help seeking youth. Therefore, the incumbent will have strong interpersonal skills and enjoy working in an interagency manner to support the best possible outcomes for young people.

The incumbent will have the opportunity to work with innovative international practice models within the Youth Stream such at the Adaptive Mentalization Based Integrative Treatment (AMBIT) which is a specialised international approach to support teams. AMBIT utilises mentalisation practice to clients, teams, networks and leaning at work. The successful incumbent will have the opportunity to will receive complementary supervision from the Anna Freud Institute in London over the next six months to support them with learning and implementing the AMBIT model.

The incumbent will be supported with additional training to support their orientation to the NAHLN Youth Stream and be provided with opportunities to meet and collaborate with youth orientated mental health workers across the youth mental health Sector. The incumbent will also be provided with disciplinary supervision from Senior Staff.

The Youth Stream Mental Health Clinicians pride themselves on developing an inclusive, supportive, collaborative, digitally smart, and professionally enriching work environment and the incumbent will also be responsible for adhering to these same values and principles. The incumbent will work in partnership with fellow staff members and the Sector Manager. 

The Youth Stream have a research focus to assess, evaluate and further disseminate learnings from working with vulnerable young people within the community mental health setting to ensure continuous improvement and learning across the youth mental health sector.

To be eligible for this position, you must be registered as a Nurse by the Nursing/Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) and who holds a current practicing certificate.

Must be enrolled in an approved Mental Health course or holds a qualification in mental health practice.
