Casual Registered Nurse – Anaesthetics | SALHN

Flinders Medical Centre is seeking a skilled Casual Registered Nurse with proven anaesthetic experience to join its perioperative team within the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network. Working across a broad range of surgical specialties in a busy tertiary setting, you will deliver expert anaesthetic nursing support alongside dedicated clinical teams through to June 2027. This role suits an experienced anaesthetic nurse looking for casual flexibility without stepping back from high-acuity, rewarding clinical work.

About the role: 

Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, this role is responsible for providing skilled anaesthetic nursing support across a diverse range of surgical specialties, managing equipment, drug preparation, and patient care in close collaboration with anaesthetists and surgical teams at Flinders Medical Centre.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Assess individual patient/client needs, plan, implement and/or coordinate appropriate service delivery from a range of accepted options including other disciplines or agencies.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities that contribute to patient/client safety, risk minimisation and safe work activities within the practice setting,
  • Provide health promotion and education, to patients/clients or groups and carers to improve the health outcomes of individual
  • Plan and coordinate services with other disciplines or agencies in providing individual health care needs

About you:

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate,
  • Effective communication skills including, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills,
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team,
  • Ability to prioritise workload,
  • Ability to be, creative, innovative and flexible when approaching issues within a healthcare setting,
  • Demonstrated competence in Anaesthetic nursing practice in accordance with the relevant standards,
  • Only candidates with proven prior Anaesthetic experience will be considered
