This full-time contract role, based at SALHN's Noarlunga Psychosis Team through to August 2027, places an experienced Clinical Nurse at the centre for coordinating safe prescribing, monitoring, and patient support for people living with treatment-resistant schizophrenia. You'll work across a skilled multidisciplinary team, bringing specialist knowledge that directly shapes the quality and safety of care delivered to some of the community's most vulnerable members. 

About the role: 

Based within SALHN's Psychosis Team, you'll sit at the centre of a nurse-led program, working closely with primary clinicians and a skilled multidisciplinary team to ensure consumers receive consistent, safe, and person-centred care.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Oversee and lead a nurse-led program, supporting primary clinicians to build their capacity in managing complex consumers,
  • Provide proficient, person centred, clinical nursing/midwifery care and/or individual case management to patients/clients in a defined clinical area,
  • Monitoring patient/client care plans to ensure appropriate care outcomes are achieved on a daily basis,
  • Support the continuum of care for consumers, including health promotion access and care transitions,
  • Assist the Nurse/Midwife Unit Manager in management, clinical, and education activities, including leadership of student and enrolled nurses

About you:

  • Registered as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds a current practicing certificate. Must be enrolled in an approved mental health course or hold a qualification in mental health practice,
  • Effective communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills,
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team,
  • Registered Nurse/Midwife with at least 3 years, full time equivalent, post registration experience,
  • Demonstrated competence in mental health nursing practice in accordance with the relevant standards,
  • Experience in the leadership and direction of student nurses, enrolled nurses and less experienced registered nurses
