About the Role:
There's something meaningful about ensuring patients and their families are cared for in every way — including a warm, nourishing meal at the end of the day. At Lyell McEwin Health Service, part of the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN), our Catering team plays a real role in patient wellbeing and recovery.
What You'll Be Doing
Working afternoon shifts across our busy Lyell McEwin site, you'll be a reliable and caring presence in our catering operation. Your day-to-day will include:
- Preparing, portioning, and delivering meals to patients in line with dietary requirements and health guidelines
- Collecting meal trays and maintaining cleanliness of catering areas and equipment
- Supporting stock rotation, food safety compliance, and temperature recording
- Communicating with nursing staff to ensure patient meal needs are met accurately and promptly
What You'll Bring
- Experience in a food service, hospitality, or catering environment
- Understanding of, or willingness to learn, food safety and hygiene standards
- Ability to follow dietary and allergen requirements carefully and consistently
- A genuine, patient-centred approach to your work — you understand that for someone in hospital, a well-delivered meal matters
- Reliability and strong communication skills in a team environment
- Current or ability to obtain a Department of Human Services (DHS) Working Clearance, as required by SA Health
About You:
In this role you will have strong interpersonal and communication skills which will enable you to successfully problem solve, resolve conflicts and negotiate, including the ability to engage in difficult conversations, whilst building and maintaining relationships. An ability to effectively manage multiple, diverse and competing priorities and demonstrated resilience within a stressful and complex environment is essential to this role.

Our Local Health Network Sites and Services:
NALHN provides a range of hospital (inpatient), outpatient, community and home-based services across multiple sites in Adelaide’s north and north-eastern suburbs, including Aboriginal health, mental health, and GP services.
Lyell McEwin Hospital – the major hospital in northern Adelaide for emergency care, complex and multi-day surgery, medicine, obstetric, paediatrics and outpatient services.
Modbury Hospital – a general hospital with emergency care, elective surgery, medicine, outpatient and sub-acute services, rehabilitation, geriatric and palliative care.
Mental Health Services – adult and older persons mental health services and statewide forensic mental health services, across hospital and community settings.
Watto Purrunna Aboriginal Primary Health Care Services – provides culturally responsive primary healthcare services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in-hospital and across four community sites.
Primary Health Care Services – including GP Plus sites at Elizabeth, Modbury and Gilles Plains.
