About the Role:
As a Clinical Nurse within the NALHN Forensic Community Mental Health Service, you will deliver recovery-focused care to consumers who have been found not guilty by reason of mental impairment or unfit to plead, and who are living in the community under licence conditions. Working within a structured multi-disciplinary team, your responsibilities will include:
- Providing clinical assessment, care coordination and case management under a rehabilitation and recovery model
- Delivering consultation, liaison and advocacy to a broad stakeholder network including courts, SA Police, the Department of Corrections, and non-government organisations
- Collaborating with mental health services across all Local Health Networks to support continuity of care
- Contributing to risk assessment, care planning and documentation that meets both clinical and legal standards
What You'll Bring
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
- Demonstrated experience in mental health nursing, including working with consumers with complex and enduring mental illness
- Solid understanding of the SA legal and forensic mental health framework, or the capacity to develop this quickly
- Proven ability to engage effectively with justice sector stakeholders, including corrections and police
- Experience applying recovery-oriented and trauma-informed models of care
- Strong communication skills suited to high-stakes, multi-agency environments within the SA Health system
To be eligible for this position, you must be enrolled in an approved Mental Health course or holds a qualification in mental health practice.

An ability to effectively manage multiple, diverse and competing priorities and demonstrated resilience within a stressful and complex environment is essential to this role.

Our Local Health Network Sites and Services:
NALHN provides a range of hospital (inpatient), outpatient, community and home-based services across multiple sites in Adelaide’s north and north-eastern suburbs, including Aboriginal health, mental health, and GP services.
Lyell McEwin Hospital – the major hospital in northern Adelaide for emergency care, complex and multi-day surgery, medicine, obstetric, paediatrics and outpatient services.
Modbury Hospital – a general hospital with emergency care, elective surgery, medicine, outpatient and sub-acute services, rehabilitation, geriatric and palliative care.
Mental Health Services – adult and older persons mental health services and statewide forensic mental health services, across hospital and community settings.
