Senior Occupational Therapist — Early Childhood | SALHN 

This part-time ongoing position at Flinders Medical Centre offers an experienced Occupational Therapist the opportunity to lead clinical practice and mentor a team of AHP2 OTs within Southern Adelaide Local Health Network's Early Childhood and Family Services program. You will maintain a hands-on caseload working with children aged 0–4 and their families, bringing your specialist skills to an area of healthcare where early intervention has lifelong impact. Based in Adelaide's southern metro area and backed by the resources of SA Health, this is a role for a senior clinician who wants to shape both outcomes for children and the growth of the allied health professionals around them.

About the role: 

Reporting to the Allied Health Manager, this role is responsible for providing professional and clinical leadership and clinical supervision of AHP2 Occupational Therapists employed across all sites of the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN), Southern Early Childhood and Families Service.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Ensure all AHP2 Occupational Therapists have supervision contracts with the Clinical Lead Early Childhood Occupational Therapist,
  • Maintain credentialing for all AHP2 Occupational Therapists, 
  • Planning, directing/coordinating service and research development within funding, staffing and resources and within the framework of strategic directions and priorities,
  • strategic directions and priorities,
  • Implementing and leading quality Occupational Therapy service provision within the community by using management skills such as performance management, development and maintenance of quality assurance procedures and provision of appropriate staff education/development

About you:

  • Must hold an appropriate degree which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist,
  • Must hold general registration with Australian Health Practitioners Registration Authority (AHPRA),
  • Demonstrated ability to relate well to, work with and support children 6 weeks to school age and their families from various cultures and backgrounds, often in complex vulnerable families,
  • Demonstrated ability to critically and reflectively evaluate own work, and maintain own professional development to meet requirements,
  • Demonstrated managerial and leadership skills,
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Occupational Therapy,
  • Experience at a senior or managerial level,
  • Experience in supervising, training and/or supporting professional staff and/or students
