About the Role

As a Clinical Nurse – Diabetes Educator, you will play a pivotal role in delivering person-centred care, supporting patients and clients with diabetes to manage their condition effectively. You will work in a multi-disciplinary setting, using your advanced clinical skills to assess, educate, and implement tailored care plans that promote optimal health outcomes. Your ability to oversee the nursing care team, mentor less experienced staff, and guide the development of diabetes education programs will be vital in enhancing patient care.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide high-quality, clinical care and individual case management to patients with diabetes
  • Develop and implement patient care plans to ensure effective management of diabetes
  • Work closely with patients, their families, and the multidisciplinary team to achieve positive health outcomes
  • Mentor and support less experienced nurses, fostering professional development within the team
  • Lead diabetes education programs and contribute to the ongoing development of clinical services

Essential Criteria

  • Registered as a Nurse/Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
  • Holds a current practicing certificate with at least 3 years of post-registration experience.
  • Completed or currently undertaking a Diabetes Educators Course (or a willingness to undertake).
  • Demonstrated competence in diabetes care and leadership of nursing teams.
