About the role

The Medical Lead, Communication with Care Program, provides clinical leadership for the design, delivery and evaluation of evidence-based communication skills training across the Women’s and Children’s Health Network. Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, the role promotes child and family-centred communication, staff wellbeing and psychologically safe learning environments. The position also supports research, quality improvement and the translation of evidence into practice to enhance consumer and staff experiences.

Key duties of the role

  • Contribute to the effective and efficient management of the program within allocated resources.
  • Develop teaching, facilitation and coaching skills of   faculty members by providing key learning, resources and coaching to empower supported facilitation and coaching of the curriculum underpinned by interdisciplinary and experiential learning models.
  • Contribute educational leadership and clinical expertise to interprofessional learning initiatives and programs that enhance the quality of patient care and interprofessional approach to learning.
  • Lead research and evaluation activities for the Communication with Care Program and apply evidence-based recommendations to improve practice and service outcomes.

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent. Appropriate Specialist Qualifications (specifically inclusive of Paediatric Specialist Qualifications) and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration; or another qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award.
  • Demonstrated experience in healthcare education, communication skills training or clinical leadership.
  • Proven ability to design, deliver and evaluate interdisciplinary education programs using contemporary adult learning principles.
  • Highly developed communication, leadership, coaching, conflict resolution and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience working in child and family-centred healthcare settings, including consumer co-design, quality improvement and evaluation activities.
