Work in collaboration with patients, other disciplines and relevant government or non-government organisations across services and sectors. Use professional judgement to plan, develop, deliver and evaluate physiotherapy services related to the out of hospital and integrated care service priority.

About the role: 

Reporting to the Head Of Unit and Nursing Director, this role is responsible for delivering culturally appropriate, equitable, comprehensive, high quality and contemporary respiratory-focused physiotherapy services to patients. 

Duties for the role will include:

  • Providing high level evidenced-based physiotherapy assessment, diagnosis and appropriate treatment to patients with complex and chronic health issues, including complex discharge planning.
  • Providing expert opinion, consultancy and education services to staff supporting patients with complex and chronic health issues to maximise self-management strategies.
  • Significantly contributing to the strategic planning process for physiotherapy services across relevant work areas, incorporating regular evaluation of services and reporting on quality improvement activities.
  • Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, including contributing professional physiotherapy expertise input across streams and facilitating complex multi-disciplinary service delivery.
  • Encouraging,  promoting and facilitating professional development of Physiotherapists through evidence based theoretical and practical discipline specific information and education, supporting research and access to professional literature, workshops and other relevant T&D opportunities
  • Contributing to the development of an integrated team approach and culture which is highly responsive to the needs of our consumers.

About you:

  • Apply a high level of competence in a broad range of physiotherapy assessment, treatment methodologies and discharge planning.
  • Problem solve, time manage and apply specialist skills to complex issues relating to physiotherapy services for clients.
  • Utilise high level communication skills to effectively work with, and resolve issues and conflict with, people with diverse value systems, cultural differences and special needs, including clients, multi-disciplinary health professionals, other organisations and providers, and the community.
  • Utilise advanced clinical leadership and management skills, including the ability to analyse and review the clinical work of other physiotherapists.
  • Develop a range of partnerships, networks and relationships with key stakeholders within and external to the organisation to address complex psycho-social issues and achieve desired outcomes.
