Join our Home Rehabilitation Team

There's something genuinely meaningful about helping someone recover at home — in their own space, on their own terms. The Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN) is looking for an Allied Health Assistant to join the Home Rehabilitation team at Flinders Medical Centre, supporting patients through early discharge and home-based rehabilitation across the Adelaide metro area. Rehabilitation in the Home will have a strong focus on innovation and digital strategies, with Telehealth and home-based monitoring integrated into the provision of care.

About the role:

  • Deliver specific therapeutic interventions — including exercise programs, mobility activities, and group-based therapy — under the clear direction of supervising Allied Health Professionals, while monitoring and reporting patient responses throughout
  • Support patients with personal care needs before, during, and after therapy, maintaining their privacy, dignity, and comfort at every stage of the interaction
  • Assist patients and carers in using Telehealth equipment, reflecting SALHN's commitment to accessible, home-based rehabilitation care that meets people where they are
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation, therapy-related databases, and administrative records under the explicit direction of your supervising AHP, contributing to safe and continuous patient care
  • Uphold workplace health and safety standards — including infection control, manual handling, and incident reporting — while actively contributing to a respectful, inclusive team environment consistent with SALHN's Integrated Governance Framework and the SA Public Sector Code of Ethics

About you:

  • Must possess or be undertaking a Certificate 3 in Allied Health Assistance or equivalent
  • Must hold current South Australian Drivers Licence
  • Demonstrated aptitude for working in a healthcare environment, with the ability to follow clear direction from Allied Health Professionals and apply documented work instructions to maintain safe, consistent practice every day
  • Sound communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage respectfully with patients and carers from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
  • Physical capacity to work in a demanding environment, including supporting patient therapy, assisting with mobility, and handling patient-related equipment and devices safely and confidently
  • Working knowledge of Work Health and Safety principles, patient confidentiality, and person and family centred care, alongside a genuine understanding of the Allied Health Assistant's scope of practice
  • Experience in an Allied Health Assistant or healthcare service role, with proven commitment to the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards and the ability to flex across a range of therapeutic and program-related activities
