About the role

The Occupational Therapist is responsible for the development, coordination and implementation of high-quality occupational therapy services to children and young adults presenting with developmental, medical, surgical, orthopaedic and chronic conditions and their families.  Services may be provided to inpatients, outpatients or at outreach locations. The role is fast paced and sound experience in infant development, multidisciplinary teamwork, hand therapy and assessment prescription and knowledge of paediatric assistive equipment are desirable.

Key duties of the role

  • Deliver high quality occupational therapy services to patients presenting with developmental, medical, surgical, orthopaedic and chronic conditions in consultation with relevant others
  • Contribute to the development of Occupational Therapy as a profession at WCHN
  • Provide a learning environment for students, colleagues and the WCHN community
  • Contribute to a positive multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Contribute to the effective and professional functioning of the Occupational Therapy Service

Skills and Experience

  • Appropriate degree or equivalent qualification, which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
  • Demonstrated experience providing Occupational Therapy services to paediatric clients
  • Experience in assessment, treatment and intervention for infant, pre-school and school-aged children
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary/interdisciplinary healthcare or community settings
  • Knowledge of paediatric Occupational Therapy practices, child development and relevant legislation/regulations
