About the Role:
Lyell McEwin Hospital's Intensive Care Unit is a cornerstone of critical care in Adelaide's north — and right now, there's an opportunity for an experienced Clinical Nurse to join the team on a part-time, fixed-term contract through to 24 September 2027.
Your Role in Critical Care
Working within the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN), you'll deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill patients across a well-supported ICU environment. Key responsibilities include:
- Providing direct, complex clinical care to ICU patients, including those requiring mechanical ventilation and haemodynamic monitoring
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualised patient care plans
- Contributing to quality improvement initiatives and supporting safe clinical practice standards
- Mentoring and supporting colleagues and undergraduate nurses within the unit
What You Bring
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Demonstrated ICU or critical care clinical experience in an acute hospital setting
- Sound knowledge of advanced life support, ventilation management, and invasive monitoring
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment
- Understanding of SA Health policies, procedures, and patient safety frameworks
- Post-graduate qualification in critical care nursing, or active progress towards one, highly regarded
To be eligible for this position, you must be Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.

In this role you will have strong interpersonal and communication skills which will enable you to successfully problem solve, resolve conflicts and negotiate, including the ability to engage in difficult conversations, whilst building and maintaining relationships. An ability to effectively manage multiple, diverse and competing priorities and demonstrated resilience within a stressful and complex environment is essential to this role.

Our Local Health Network Sites and Services:
NALHN provides a range of hospital (inpatient), outpatient, community and home-based services across multiple sites in Adelaide’s north and north-eastern suburbs, including Aboriginal health, mental health, and GP services.
Lyell McEwin Hospital – the major hospital in northern Adelaide for emergency care, complex and multi-day surgery, medicine, obstetric, paediatrics and outpatient services.
Modbury Hospital – a general hospital with emergency care, elective surgery, medicine, outpatient and sub-acute services, rehabilitation, geriatric and palliative care.
Mental Health Services – adult and older persons mental health services and statewide forensic mental health services, across hospital and community settings.
Watto Purrunna Aboriginal Primary Health Care Services – provides culturally responsive primary healthcare services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in-hospital and across four community sites.
Primary Health Care Services – including GP Plus sites at Elizabeth, Modbury and Gilles Plains.
