About the Role:
Lyell McEwin Hospital is seeking a motivated Urology Registrar to join the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) for a fixed-term contract commencing in 2026 and concluding 1 February 2027. This is an opportunity to build genuine surgical depth within a public health service that delivers complex urological care to one of Adelaide's most rapidly growing communities.
Your Role at Lyell McEwin
Working within the NALHN Urology Unit at Lyell McEwin Health Service, you will contribute to a broad scope of urological care across inpatient, outpatient, and surgical settings. Key responsibilities include:
- Assessment and management of acute and elective urology presentations across ward and emergency contexts
- Assisting in and performing urological procedures under appropriate supervision
- Contributing to multidisciplinary team meetings, case reviews, and clinical governance activities
- Supporting junior medical staff and maintaining clear, timely clinical documentation
What You Bring
- Current registration with the Medical Board of Australia with no restrictions on practice
- Completion of an accredited internship and residency, with demonstrated progression toward surgical or urological training
- Sound clinical reasoning and ability to manage acute urological conditions independently
- Commitment to working effectively within a public hospital multidisciplinary team
- Understanding of SA Health standards and the public health context specific to NALHN's diverse patient population
- Strong communication skills with patients, families, and clinical colleagues
To be eligible for this position, you must have:
- Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent
- Registerable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with General Registration
As per the SA Health Salaried Medical Officers Enterprise Agreement 2025, the total term of employment with SA Health will be 3 years. Rotations following the initial 12 month allocation as Medical Practitioner will be determined in line with your training and SA Health’s requirements. This may include transfer to other SA Health locations to perform work appropriate to classification, skills and capabilities.
The Total Indicative Remuneration figure is calculated taking into account base salary, leave loading and superannuation as well as managerial allowances, professional development or any other allowances where appropriate.

NALHN provides a range of hospital (inpatient), outpatient, community and home-based services across multiple sites in Adelaide’s north and north-eastern suburbs, including Aboriginal health, mental health, and GP services.
Lyell McEwin Hospital – the major hospital in northern Adelaide for emergency care, complex and multi-day surgery, medicine, obstetric, paediatrics and outpatient services.
Modbury Hospital – a general hospital with emergency care, elective surgery, medicine, outpatient and sub-acute services, rehabilitation, geriatric and palliative care.
Mental Health Services – adult and older persons mental health services and statewide forensic mental health services, across hospital and community settings.
