About the role

The AHP2 Social Worker is responsible for delivering high-quality social work services to people of all genders aged 16 years and over who have experienced rape or sexual assault. The role provides individual and group support, contributes to research initiatives and projects, delivers education and training programs, and supports the development of service goals and strategies to enhance service delivery.

Key duties of the role

• Ensure comprehensive counselling and social work services for victim-survivors of rape and/or sexual assault
• Develops and implements projects aligned with the organisation’s strategic plan, delivers training and community information initiatives, and actively contributes to a positive culture and safe work environment.
• Contributes to a respectful and positive working environment through education, teaching and research activities, and delivers and evaluates training and community information initiatives to support service improvement.
• Develops and implements projects aligned with the organisation’s strategic plan, provides consultancy support in relation to service delivery, and takes responsibility for ongoing professional development and education.
• Participates in the planning, evaluation and promotion of Yarrow Place counselling and social work services, while contributing to quality assurance, risk management activities and continuous improvement of systems, services and work practices.

Skills and Experience

• Appropriate degree or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers
• Demonstrated experience providing trauma-informed counselling, crisis support, group work and community services
• Strong communication, advocacy, consultation and stakeholder engagement skills with diverse consumer groups
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and manage competing priorities in a high-demand environment
• Knowledge of trauma, sexual violence, human rights frameworks, confidentiality, mandatory reporting and relevant legislation
