About the role: 

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Dietetics & Nutrition, this role is integral to delivery of high-quality nutrition assessment, intervention, and education across relevant inpatient and/or outpatient caseloads.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Providing appropriate and effective dietetic management with regard to assessing, dietetic diagnosing, planning, implementing and evaluating a nutritional care program for adult patients in the Statewide eating disorder inpatient Program on Ward 4GP.
  • Integral member of the Multi Disciplinary team on ward 4GP, advocating for patients optimum nutritional care & treatment
  • Active participation of patients, their families/carers and Multidisciplinary team in their assessment and care planning.
  • providing a weekly outpatient clinic to nutritionally support adult patients with eating disorders
  • Documenting relevant observations and information regarding patients' nutritional requirements, recommended dietary treatment plans and effectiveness of nutritional intervention program in patients' medical records.
  • Guiding, teaching and evaluating dietetic students implementing the nutrition care process (NCP) across relevant health services.
  • Taking leadership in guiding other departmental staff members in the area of Adult Eating Disorders.
  • Collection and analysis of data to provide information on patient progress or services to make recommendations to the allocated units & other nominated units for service improvements.
  • Contributing to a supportive work environment.
  • Contributing to the development of an integrated team approach and culture which is highly responsive to the needs of our consumers.

About you:

  • Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of Dietitians Australia (DA).
  • Demonstrated experience in the provision of nutritional assessment, diagnosis, dietetic treatment, counselling and education of consumers with Eating Disorders.
  • Experience in the delivery of nutrition support to patients in an acute care setting.
  • Clear aptitude for working in a healthcare setting and with people from a variety of cultural and linguistically diverse backgrounds
  • Strong multidisciplinary approach to providing dietetic & nutrition care to patients
  • Ability to adapt to unexpected situations and fluctuating workloads.
